In honour of the newly employed ConsenCUS technologies at the Petrobrazi Refinery, OMV Petrom successfully organised the Pilot Project Event to demonstrate the installation to high level visitors.
OMV Petrom’s leadership attended, including Mr. Radu Caprau, Executive Board Member for Refining & Marketing, and Mr. Adrian Nicolaescu, Vice President of Product Supply and Sales East. The event also saw the presence of several local authorities, such as Mr. Virgil Nanu, President of the Prahova County Council; Mr. Mircea Tănase, Deputy Prefect of Prahova County; and Mr. Radu Dudău, President of the Energy Policy Group. The event underscored Prahova County’s involvement in the Just Transition Fund, a programme supporting six energy-intensive counties in Romania. Developing Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) technology is essential within this initiative, requiring dedicated funding to advance its implementation.
The ConsenCUS project has reached a significant milestone by successfully capturing CO2 with a purity level exceeding 99% with CO2 that was captured from exhaust gas from the OMV Petrom Petrobrazi Refinery. This accomplishment highlights the effectiveness of the advanced electrochemical technology employed by the project. Read more about the results here.
